multi piece edges

Post by rockaukum »

Whats the word on this? Using drop pieces of edge material together to complete a ski / board. How much strength does the edge provide to the ski / board? If I was a park skier, I would think this would be a bad idea, but thinking of powder ski / board? I think there are a few that have even gone edgeless....
Thoughts?

lots of big companies are doing 3 and 4 piece edges. think 3/4 wrap with a long pieces and a cap for each end. Scott does this for sure and Im sure several others do as well. To me more seems = more chance for delam. I prefer a 1 piece full edge wrap on my skis when I can get a roll of material. If I have to order pieces I stick with only 2 seams.

Just do half ski from scrap.
