questions about Inkscape

Post by gerryrig »

Hi Guys,

I have a couple questions about Inkscape.
I believe I read in one the threads that Inkscape automatically formats colors in CYMK. Yes or no?
Also, If I import a graphic or a jpg photo will Inkscape automatically convert it to CYMK?
I looked all trough the program and the help files but did no see anything about color format.

Thanks in advance,

Gerry

I just found my answer to both questions in Help.
Inksacpe format is RGB. and not convertable in Inkscape.

How can I convert to CMYK?

Thanks again,

Gerry

I just went through all this and you have to have full photoshop to do the conversion.
The problem you have is file size. There are free conversion sites out there but they can only handle up to 5mb. the files we deal with are 100mb or more. Photoshop is the only thing that I've found that can do it.

I downloaded Scribus this weekend, which is a freeware version of Photo Shop but I don't have the tech savy to make the conversion. Any help would be much appreicated.

Thanks in advance.

I'll have to find an app that will allow me to view this video.

Thanks,

That link is huge! Great tutorial. Thanks Rich! Wish I would have had that a couple months ago.
I have the entire creative suite from Adobe now so I'm doing all this stuff on Photoshop, much easier.

Boy you got that right. Seems like the more I get in to it the more confusing it gets.

Holly colorscape Batman this is complicated.
The CMYKTool app looks like a good way to go.
I asked a co-worker this morning if she had Photoshop and could she convert my file. She said yes? She did in ten minutes what I had failed to do in ten hours. The girl knows her stuff. So now I have my first graphics ready for printing. BTW we did notice the dumbing down of certain colors but she was able to correct some of it in Photoshop. I'm a happy man today.
