materials in new zealand?

Post by mike8353 »

hi, I have just started building skis in new zealand, but am having difficulty sourcing materials, ie steel edges, base material, topsheet etc. basically everything except wood and fibreglass.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
cheers.

are you on the south island?
Kingswood is outside christchurch.

I bet you could by carbon glass and edges from them if you stop by.

if you`re going to be my host for a season i`ll deliver you any materials personally ;) ;)

no sorry, no better advice than: try kingswood.they seemed to be pretty cool, at least as i emailed them 2 years ago as i made my trip to NZ. but of course there`s a certain possability that they are not that happy when other folks start to build skis...

I don't know if you can actually visit the place, give them a call or email.

I'm pretty sure it's run out of someones home - but they might let you pick stuff up. If they don't, order WELL in advance, as my experience with them is it takes a while to get your stuff. If you do end up needing to ship, the skibuilders store is much faster.
