Has anyone ever used a Titanl layer in their skis????
I am going to build skis this spring and was wondering how A layer of Aluminum (Titanal) was going to effect the ski building process. Is it as easy to make as a set of skis without the Ti layer? also when profiling the sidewalls in the finishing process is there a special router bit to use that will cut Aluminum better than a traditional router bit? Any other information on making skis with a Titanal layer would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hi coutureskis,
We've used it -- can make a ski feel stiffer. Here's an example of a ski with the titanal.

Notice in the first photo the base is clear and the long strip of titanal shows through.
Here's a photo of the aluminum

Thanks Kam,
I will probably have some more questions in the coming weeks...
I am in the process of building my press right now I started last weekend and the frame is almost complete. It is going to be very similar to the large production style press shown at http://www.custom-shop.com/pages/ski%20presses.htm
I am hoping to ski on my first pair by the end of the season!!
I will post some photos as soon as I get my camera to the garage where I am building the press.
thanks again!!!

There used to be a link on the main page but it appears to be broken.
It seems iirc it was quite pricey, and had to come from germany.
titanal-sports was the only distributor (perhaps manufacturer)
That's all I got.

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...
Best of luck to you. (uneva)
