tip sapcers and pre-bent tips

Post by jlutz05 »

so what is the best way to attach tip spacers to the cores if you want to prebend you tips?
should I super glue or epoxy the tip spacers on the core before prebending or after?

do it afterwards.
Whatever you use make sure the beads are as small as possible, just tack it every few inches.

If you do it then prebend, the heat will warp the plastic and probably make it wavy when it comes out or make it pop off.

You only gotta get it to hold until its pressed then the epoxy takes care of it.

Use staples even if you can. I've found that a regular office stapler will go right through this shit just fine, staple it as close to the core as you can so the staple isnt sticking out of the board when you're finished.

another question about tip spacers. What do you guys do where the core is thicker than the tip spacers? do you sand down the edge of the core to meet the spacers or anything like that?

yes, you definitely want the core thickness and tip thickness to be exact. Otherwise you'll get a void/bubble/rippling in that area.

Yeah! staples work great for this.... an old pair of made in Sarajevo Elans gave this idea to me.
Once we even tried longer staples to attach the the base to the press. The result are some almost invisible holes in the base.... but holes after all.
