I NEED help with ski design

Post by mdj032 »

i am just starting out and i have some questions about the ski design. because i am still in high school i want to start out small scale so i will be making a few pairs of skiboards for me and my friends. i want to make a pair that is 100 cm long. with the shape of a ski (twin tips) wouldn't i have to design the template and make the base sheet a little longer than 100 cm?

do you mean flat length vs. bent length?

then yes

your cut base will be xxx long, then once pressed and bent, it will be maybe 1-1.5cm shorter.

If there is a place where you can test ride twin tip skis I suggest doing that, so you know what kind of ski/snowboard shape and length you like for the kind of skiing you want to do.

As mentioned, just keep in mind the running length (the portion that has contact with the ground) will be shorter once you've bent the tip and tail when you are deciding the length of your skis. 100cm sounds pretty short. More like short skis I'm considering making to get to a route in the mountains.

Good luck.
