Snowboard core has a cup
Little background: I have been gluing up my maple cores and pressing them in the mold so they have the chamber profile in them, but I'm having an issue with the cores cupping near the tail. I'm not sure what is going on and whether it is something I should be concerned about. With a little weight, they will flatten out. Do you think this is an issue, or once the board is pressed and the fiberglass and epoxy are applied, will it hold flat and prevent the cupping?
Re: Snowboard core has a cup
I wouldn't be too concerned with cupping in the tips of the final core as the wood is so thin that it will easily press into shape and stay flat. What I'm worrying about is how you will profile a cupped core blank to the correct thickness. Depending on your profiling method, you'll need to make sure that the core is pushed flat during profiling.

The core is already profiled and the cupping is happening right where it starts to tapering down in thickness.chrismp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 4:51 am I wouldn't be too concerned with cupping in the tips of the final core as the wood is so thin that it will easily press into shape and stay flat. What type of press do you have? With vacuum it might become an issue.

Flip the cores over and lay them outside on some grass in the sun. They will flatten out.
Then always store them standing straight up on the end. They will stay flat.
