Although the thread started with the Megawatt core and what the purpose of 3D top is. I am not talking the Megawatt per-se. Just any ski with a 3D core and the benefits that may provide. That is what got me interested in the thread-What does a 3D core do?

I build with a vacuum bag and a beveled core (cap construction) so it would be easy with my set up to mill some recesses into the core. I think if done right it would as MontuckyMM says above, benefit multidirectional flex and swing weight. I think this is true and will experiment. I can only make a few pairs a year with my schedule so I thought it would be prudent to get input from ya'll out there. Thanks. There is so much to learn.

I saw another interesting ski on the mountain yesterday... I thnk it was a black diamond, and I want to say the name was something like bowflex? Crossbow? Crossflex?

It had a raised "spine running the length of the ski, but it was dramatically curved along the length.
