That and you have to have a few posts under your belt before you can post links, pics, etc.twizzstyle wrote:You need to host the picture file on the internet first. Something like Photobucket or Picasa will work.
There are a few threads about drag knives on here.
Also... pretty weak 1st post.

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...

alpineboard builder
Hi, I was on the fly earlier, This is Robert from NH. I have been building proto type alpine boards and a skwal board for the past few years. I have been on the membership list but never got my accepted email with the password. I got it yesterday, and wanted to post a few pictures of the CNC and controller that I put together, and post a link of a gopro vid that I attached to the skwal. I have a few questions and may be able to answer a few. I may also offer cnc templating and perhaps cassette as well. I also yesterday got a Donek d1 drag knife working that I can add to that post.

Welcome to the forum Robert. This is *Ace* from over at BomberOnline. I have always been following your builds that you post on Bomber. I'd love to talk with you sometime about your skwal building experiences. Thats awesome to hear about your CNC endeavors. Did you make it yourself? 80/20 extrusions or something else?
Cheers!
Cheers!

I am having trouble posting anything, Rob
This one went ok, but the 2 I tried before it were well written messages and they would not go up. I got a no url warning but I did not have a url on it.
This is what happened to me for the past few years??

cnc and swivel drag
Hi, the swivel drag knife mounts in any router with a 1/2" collet. The blade cut tip trails the rotating axis by 0.060" so the cut tip follows the path of cut thus enabling it to steer by following. It uses standard utility or safety (rounded) blades which are affordable instead of a $15 to $30 replacement blade. ean has also wrote 2 corner action programs for it. go to donektools.com .
Yes CNC was a big project, with many topics and choices to learn as you go, I am glad I did it. I do have other plans for other cnc machines, with a design that I can use my same controller(save money)
Skwal is fun.Rob At some point I will post some pictures.

new build progress
Hi, I am doing a cad draw, top view first, then offset the sidewall thickness to the correct amount to the interior, same thing for the tip and tail, I will rip the sidewall w/bandsaw, but the tip/tail I will copy/paste/draw the arc into a new drawing for a separate cam process, to be cnc'd. Then with this top view create a 3d using the correct profile. Do the cam on this and give it a try with a practice pine core. bottom first for the inserts, then flip it and do the top profile. Sound good?? Rob, I want to post enough so I can put up some pics, ordinarily I do not say much, unless I got something good, Rob
