Some of the alpine board manufactures out there use rubber sheet as a dampening material. A board of mine that I cut apart had perforated rubber and below the titanal layers.
Does this rubber have to be a specific rubber like VDS? Better question, what type of rubber is VDS? Butyl, neoprene, EPDM, gum rubber? I''ll have to talk to Sean Martin from Donek to see what he uses.....

matt, I read that as a single layer between the edge and base layer of glass and between the sidewall and top layer of glass.
