topsheet graphics, who can do it in europe?

Post by mikic1 »

I'v been talking to a lot of local companies in Sweden and around, and been following some discussions here, but perhaps its best to ask and see if anyone has a good contact.

Nobody so far is able to print on 0.35 or 0.5mm thick topsheet, for whatever reason, so I did not have much success.

Any good contacts for europe, or any suggestions?

Cheers

for small quantities only digital (direct or sublimation) print seems to be an option. there are 2 companies i had contact to, but never purchased anything.
one is www.alpenstolz.com in rosenheim, germany.

the other guy i met on the ispo trade show last january. a frensch guy called thomas vaujany who made the offer to do sublimation work.company: exo sas, wakeboards

http://www.stainer.co.at/index_e.htm in Austria do Ski/Snowboard graphics. They do sublimation, screen printing and digital printing (either solvent based or with a special printer using epoxy inks on uhmpe topsheets).

i spoke to stiener a few months back and at that time they were getting out of the sublimation game and going bigger on screen stuff, they can do some crazy stuff but for a small builder im not sure its the best place. set up fees are high and only really works if your doing runs in the thousands. granted there was a pretty stiff language barrier over the phone, so i could have got something wrong. have not looked at there web site in a while but sub services were on there when i was told they stopped doing it. if your a small time builder it may still be worth exploring Miller studios in washington usa they do great work small numbers reasonable pricing. tops and bases can be rolled relatively small might be worth getting a shipping quote to see if its a viable option.

Ok, thanks.

I already talked to Vincent from Miller, a nice guy, and I am trying to see if there is anyone in europe who can do something before I commit to orders from US with expensive shipping, toll etc.

Its funny, I have expected in the beginning that almost any printing company could take the topsheet and just print on it digitally (of course CYMK color or some small modifications) but it seems not doable for some reason whether it is small gain and high risk for them or just some techincal reason.

initially i thought the same thing, have a local guy and it would be all good. but i guess because of special inks and printers not will to spend the time to get it right its just not worth it. it could be done if they have sub presses big enough but at the end of the day its worth goin to the guys that have been doing it for years great custom support and quality product

uhmpe topsheets can't be printed on without special equipment. tpu topsheets can be printed with solvent inks though which are pretty common in the signmaking business.

interesting, so perhaps I should chase the sign making companies :).

Will try to ask around. Must be a better way then ordering all the way from US.
