Why even have steel edges?
The shape reminds me of my old kayak.

Didn't notice the curve side to side at first. Looks like a longboard design.

Ya, it looks like the core steps down twice before the tip and tail area.

Oh I get it. The core is just a stack of veneers and some are shorter to get tip & tail flex and save weight.
