CNC Edge bender

hey buuk
are the edge shapes you are bending constant radius?
How are you going "tuning" the bender. I mean that there is always some springback after you bend the edge. Have you found a repeatable way to determine how much you need to overbend an edge so when it springs back it is exactly what you want?
by the way - impressive work. I have laid awake a lot of nights thinking about building this device!

Don't wait up, I'm off to kill Summer....
@ Skammy: Don't know how much I did put into it. Mainly used parts from my old CNC milling machine and for the new one... so did mainly put a lot of time into this project.
@ Falls: If I would like to bend a contant radius I did not build this beast
To tune the bender I will have to make a lot of test bends and measure these accurately. Then put this into the computer and hope a nice fitted curve comes out that provides a relation between roller position and radius. The software for controlling it is already finished.
I will keep you up to date when there is progress...
Cheers,
Luc

Make things as simple as possible, but not too simple
The CNC edgebender is finally working properly!
Did completely redesign the bender and modified the prototype (didn't make it look more pretty
). Then did do a lot of testing to find the bending properties. Did optimize the code of my bending program in Matlab and am now able to bend nice full wrap edges in about one minute
Edge feed is working great too.
Now it's time for building a new CNC Milling machine and afterward I will create a rock solid steel version of the CNC edge bender
Cheers
