Wintersteiger ski tuner double belt and side edger (in CO)

All,
I came across a Wintersteiger ski tuner; double belt and side edger in Palmer Lake CO (North side of Colorado Springs). The belt grinder has been in storage for 3 years, but was working when taken out of service.
Not wide enough for snowboards. Weighs about 450 lbs, so bring an engine hoist or 2-3 friends to move it.

Asking $300 !!!

if you want to get rid of the water pumps, i'll take those off your hands if you want to part it out might get more $$$$

I would not be too concerned about the 3 phase; change out the motor(s) to single phase or even easier would be to get a phase converter.

What the heck is a smurf tube?

3 phase is blue conduit running into machine shops commonly known in NA to rednecks and shopmonkeys as smurf tube.

A new motor to power that beast would be pricey I bet not to mention a serious PITA.

Not as much an issue as you might think. If you buy a motor with the same frame, they pretty much are a direct swap.

Phase converters are even easier and not too expensive. Grizzly has a 3.5HP to 7 HP phase converter (240V 1PH to 240V 3PH) for under $220.

If I was closer I'd snatch that up. You could source a single phase motor on craigslist for not too much.

Looks like it's got a bit of rust and could use a little restoration work... but I've already shown you can take a complete pile of rust and make it good as new

they state that cheap phase converter is only good for 15 min cycles.
Granted I dont recall ever running my grinder for 15min intervals, but its nice to know ya can.
