Bending base with edges

Used to prebend my tips with a hot water and a jig (davide explained this with pics somewhere)chrismp wrote:a bit off topic, but it kinda fits here:
for the guys who do full length woodcores and use bent aluminum molds...how do you hold down your cores during lay-up? or do you prebend the cores as well?
Prebent tips don't try and escape from the ski/board for the rest of their life - seen a few Elan's delam in the tip from not prebending!

Hey man, when it comes down to real engineering, whatever gets the job done the fastest and the cheapest is the best solution. It might be ugly, but it's still elegantMontuckyMadman wrote:
This is the ugliest thing I have ever constructed.
I made it entirely out of garbage basically and leftovers even the epoxy.
There wasn't enough in the hardener to make the pump function so I eyeballed it.
with the 3/4 edge wrap problem you were decribing (ignores the last bit), could you use a sheet of thin aluminium on the base side to try and create a "bridge" for the edges to the tip, sort of get the aluminium to act as if the edges are continuing all the way to the tip. Not a great explanation, but if the aluminium supports the edge set it may allow the ends of the 3/4 to get bent well too?
Don't wait up, I'm off to kill Summer....

Yup that's how it works.
Mine is attached to the end of my work bench.
I've been clamping a 1x4 maple board to hold it down.
I let the first one pop back up (rolled past the tip) like in the revolver vid but there's a lot of energy there and I was worried about the edges popping off.
Still looking for a bigger main pipe.
Also been thinking about 2 smaller rollers that pivot instead of just one.
Thinking it would bend more like a slip roll.
I'm still having the edges go slightly out of plain.
I'll work it out when I find the time ( ha ha ha)

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...
Best of luck to you. (uneva)

I bought mine from this place, $14.50 plus shipping for a 12" section:

I originally bought it for my jet engine project, but used something else instead.
Is there a Metal Supermarket local to you? They always have dirt cheap stuff in the remnants section.
