What size of heating pad relative to the cassette?

Post by switzch »

I am in the process of upgrading my top and bottom molds along with adding a top and bottom heating pad setup. My molds are going to be adjustable by moving the tip and tail sections in and out. Similar to Vinman or Headmonkeys setup.

My question relates to the size of the heating pads relative to the size of the ski & cassette -

I'm curious what people do when pressing a short ski with a long heating pad? I am thinking that i need different sized aluminum cassettes for different ski lengths and when pressing a shorter ski the heating pad will 'hang' out the end of the press? is this assumption correct or will there be a pinch point where the aluminum ends and the blanket extends out?

You shouldn't have any problem with the heat blanket extending past the aluminum sheets. I take a file to the ends of the aluminum just to make sure though. I also roundover the ends of my tip and tail molds so there aren't any possible pinch points.
