My buddy called and said to try this:
1. Click on either of the 2 websites below. They'll test if your java is working or not, which it probably isn't, but try it anyway:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
http://www.w3.org/People/mimasa/test/object/java/clock
2. Then go to this website, download java to your hard drive and install it:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
3. Try step 1 again and see if java is working.
He's looking at other possibilities.

#2 shows clocks under the java with applets, but does not show clocks under the java with objects.
Trying the manual java download now.

Also check this (you might have done already but...) Open Internet explorer, Tools, internet options, advanced tab, look for the Java Sun, check the "Use JRE 1.6.0_11 <applet> (requires restart) "

Nope. Can't get any web start applications to function on my computer. Probably going to try ubuntu, but I want to get another hard drive first, and I need a new cdr drive as mine shit the bed.
I really feel like I've gone through everything. My gut is telling me that it's permissions or security related but I just can't figure out what could be causing it.

Well, I can finally use snocad again.
I had to download xp mode and virtual machine in order to use another program for some work stuff that I am dealing with. I thought that I might as well try and run snocad while in xp mode, and surprise surprise it works flawlessly.
So, for whatever reason snocad is not working with win 7 on a 64 bit machine, but works fine on a virtual machine running on the same computer. Huh?
Now I need to figure out how to transfer files from my computer to the virtual machine, so I can open my old snocad files.
Aren't computers fun????

I Know. I really need to, but so much of what I work with is windows based, it just seems like it would be more of a pain. But, what do I know.
Another interesting thing is my dvd drive is working inside of the virtual pc, but it hasn't ever worked with my 64bit os. I thought I was being smart setting up my computer as 64 bit. Hmmm, not so smart it seems.

Doughboyshredder in his 1st post to this thread asked if you needed to be on the internet for snowcad to work. I have a computer in my shop but do not have internet access in my shop yet. I can design a ski on snowcad without the internet connection and even save a dxf file but when I try to open the saved dxf file I get an error of unable to launch application. Can anyone tell me the limitations of using snowcad without a internet connection and how the internet interfaces with snowcad.
Thanks
