Magnetic insert supplier?

Post by Docta »

Ive never needed them as in past I have used clear top sheets for learning and simplicity on my first skis , now Im going to build with some wood veneers so want some magnets to make the drilling easier..... what is the best source to get these at?

Ive seen it here before, but looked for about an hour and cant find the link...

Thanks.

or www.camaxtoolco.com

You can buy just the "bullseye caps" which is simply a magnetic roll, with a stamping in it to give you small circular magnetic "stickers"

Those work great on any insert.

If you get the camax inserts with the bullseye caps already on them...
Keep in mind the bullseye caps are the magnetic roll stuff I described above, and that IS the cap! There is no clear film cap underneath it, there is a chance they can move or break off and the inserts fill with epoxy.

This happened to us on a few boards when we discovered what the issue is, HEAT.

The caps were getting overheated and lifting just enough for resin to seep in. We were heating from the top at the time, we tried a build where we slowly ramped up and tried our best to keep heat below 185 degrees, and this helped but there was still a tiny bit of seepage.

When we switched back to bottom heat, problem went away.

If you dont care that stuff comes from china then get the chinese hex inserts, but keep in mind i will hate you, ;), they are good IMHO simply because they resist heat better. But When done right, the camax inserts are awesome and are USA made by small business.
