URGENT: I need a picture of your mold!!!!
I'm typing up a report, once I turn this in my degree is complete.
The subject is on custom ski design, measuring the mechanical properties of an existing design, FEA modeling of the design and testing improvements. This is technically a design project, so my original (highly optimistic given my other course/projects) plan was to test a ski, create a model, use the model to make some improvements and then build the ski.
My adviser understands why I didn't make the ski, and honestly never expected me to. I do want to include information about the specialized equipment that I built in order to support building the skis, PID control, vacuum system, molds etc.
However, I am an idiot and never took a picture of the new mold I built, and it is an hour away. Adjustable mold, with a bottom blanket and aluminum surface. If someone can take a nice clear pic for me it would be greatly appreciated!!
I'll see what I can do about making this worth your time. E-mail is REMOVED

Thanks MM, this is better then nothing. I can't believe I forgot to snap a picture of the mold when I was out at my shop last week...MontuckyMadman wrote:sorta adjustable not as fancy as yours check your other gmail

I'll get some pictures later on, it ins't as fancy as it sounds. Just enough functionality to get me by until I have my own, permanent shop set up close by.
Anyone else have any pictures of their mold covered with an aluminum sheet that they are willing to share?
Muy report is up to 10 1/2 pages at the moment. i still need to add in FEA modeling, Production Equipment that I had to re-make out here (now I have a mold pic!!!), suggested improvements and a quick conclusion.
I could probably wrap it up quickly, but as this is meant to represent an entire 3 months of my time I would rather err on the side of detailed.
But I'm about to be gradumicated!

sweet!!
My senior mechanical design project was snowboard based as well, and it was so awesome to come up with like 15 written pages just on snowboarding and making boards. I can never write anything unless its something i'm passionate about. I think after all the photos, charts, diagrams, etc it was close to 40, but i had a LOT of help.
Congrats!!!!!

I wish this had been my senior design project, but it was only an independent study to take care of 4 tech elective credits.knightsofnii wrote:sweet!!

This was senior design:

6 months and 6 "Engineers"...
Hey guys,
I'm doing my final yr mech eng project on snowboards as well, I wonder if you'd mind sending me your reports? It would be a great help with my research! I'll return the favour and send my research in 8 months time when it is complete, it is based on torsional vibrations and stiffness in snowboards, so should be beneficial or at least interesting reading to those who build boards.
