Anyone know how to attach bindings to a pre drilled plate.

Post by timking »

Received a pair of K2 apache raider skis with marker M2 11.0 TC bindings. The skis have pre-drilled plate fixed on it already. Due to my location, not very handy to drive to a ski shop. Is there a step by step instructions for fitting the bindings on a pre-drilled plate?

I read about how to align the center of the boots with the skis, and position the toe and heel pieces, and how to adjust DIN as well. To do those with a pre-drilled does not seem too hard at all. However, I am not sure if this is simply a screwdriver job or it also needs to put glue in the pre-drilled holes? If it does need glue, does only the toe piece needs to be glued or both the toe and heel need to be glued?

glue combats friction in a wood or foam ski and allows the screw to go in easier as well as keep water out.
Are the plates made of plastic?
Are you dealing with metal inserts?
Metal inserts use silicon.
Plastic use glue.
Are the holes tapped?
You should tap.
Lots of really good mounting info on gapic and tgr.
Use epoxy if you want a really hard time taking them off again.
I thought this was for home built skis?

Sounds like he is looking for info on mounting system bindings, this really isn't the place for it (this is SkiBUILDERS after all...). TGR has the info, search first or you WILL get called out. Epicski has the info, I would search too because there are already a few related threads this season.

Basically, with a system or plate binding, if you have to ask you are better off leaving it to the pro's. It is relatively simple and if you can't see it right away then you likely should not mess with it.

And honestly, asking things like if I glue the screws should I use glue on both the toe and the heal is a really (no other way to put it) stupid question. Why would you do something to half the binding but not the other?

I'll tell you what to do but not in any great detail because it sounds like you are going to hurt yourself or break something. Position the toe and heal pieces according to the BSL of your boots. Screw them down to the plate, using a Pozi drive #3 screwdriver (#3 phillips looks close, but tends to ruin the screw heads) with NO glue at all. Adjust the DIN/forward pressure, and then have it tested for release.

Or go to a shop, pay $40-$60 and let them do it without breaking the binding or you.

Thanks for your info.

I have googled, some instructions say ONLY glue the toe not the heel, some say both. I guess it really depends on the bindings type and model. There is no specific info on marker M2 11.0 TC bindings.
