Lite Steel Beams

Has anyone read anything about the lite steel beams seen in the website below?

I saw an add for these in fine homebuilding magazine and wondered if they could be used instead of i beams or 2"x2" steel tubing to construct a ski press. From the website it looks like they can be cut and drilled as if they were aluminum. They are pretty light weight and much cheaper than steel I Beams. I don't know if they would be cheaper than 2"x2" steel tubing (which I am finally realizing is the best material to build a ski press out of). I don't know how to do the calculations on a C looking beam (I have a spreadsheet that can figure everything out for I beams). Does anyone know how to do the calculations?

Here is a crappy screenshot of my spreadsheet I made with all of the steel I beam sizes. I can email this to anyone that wants to take a look at it.

Interesting...

They seem to have a lot more manufacturing complexity then standard tube, so i suspect the price is higher...


I've always had a ton of trouble getting accurate deflection data when trying to model a press built with construction products. It seems like architectural standards are just a PITA to convert to engineering standards. Or maybe I am just missing something, any insight here?
