How to do the profiling

Post by Bourquein »

I'm having some issues grasping the concept of how to do the profile. What is the profiling jig that your supposed to use in the planer? I've never heard of anything like that.

no to sound critical but that seems like you wouldn't get the profile you really wanted. Has anyone tried doing it with a band saw?

You'd get the angle but you couldn't make it level off like it does in the profile. it would be an angle all the way down to the tip or where ever you decided it would be. I mean, it would be good from making alot in simple fashion but it wouldn't be exactly the way you wanted it.

You can make any profile you want, Bourquein. If you don't count cnc this is probably one of the the most precise ways to profile a core.

there is a long thread about this somewhere.
