my 182 with full ash core weighted 2600g, my 190 with a mixture of ash/fir core with 13mm core thickness underfoot resulted in 2400g which felt pretty light to ski. so they should ski fine... but the difference of 500g is quite huge. i`d really try to track down where those 500g come from! it seems ...

great skis! on one picture it looks like the vacuum couldn`t fully press the tips/tails into the mold. did you have any problems with that? maybe i`d use a larger radius for tip and tails for the next pair...it seems quite narrow! kola peninsula, nice! do they have any skilifts there or do you have ...

what makes me wonder... why is it still concave after basegrinding? how did you grind it? believe me, the skis that get out of industrial production look terrific. they`re far away from being flat and sometimes you can even see an impression of the edges because they don`t router out any gap in the ...

i recently visited the stockli ski factory. they use vds too, but they put in quite a lot of metal. they got the base with the edges and put a metal sheet on top of the base with the same thickness as the teeth of the edges. this sheet runs over the whole lenght of the skis and fits right in between...

it`s just a scratch ;) already repaired and skied on them again. skis are built to be used, right? so i`m not shure about the use of vds.... i can`t answer your question right now. on one hand i think it could probabely weaken the construction. using thinner stuff is nearly impossible, my vds-bands ...

just great!
water alone is not sufficient. you need hot, boiling water or steam to bend the skis....the cold water won`t penetrate the wood as deep as steam does...

awesome, so glad that it worked out for you too! my biggest concern was that the mold could snap in two pieces lenghtwise if you build 2 skis at a time. but i think your 2x6 really helped prevent this. i made a little illustration ;) http://skibuilders.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10013/normal_press.jpg ...

second!

shape it like a dps lotus 138, or an armada jj or arg (if i`m right with the model name...you know what i mean, the rockered models of armada) or salomon rocker aren`t bad either.
just do a continuously rising tip and you`ll be fine ;) flat underfoot.
