carbon/basalt?

I found some carbon/basalt cloth (3k, 2X2 twill, 20oz/sq yard). I'm looking to lighten up my next pair of skis for a little bit of touring. Has anyone used this before? Any ideas about how this will react in the ski (pressing or skiing)?

Thanks

Alternative ways to heating a press?

Ive been looking for a way to heat my press for about a month now and I've been in contact with several companies that make silicon blankets and I cant find one that I can afford. Is there anything that can be a substitute for a silicon blanket? Any cheaper solutions from a company that I don't know...
