Counterbore/thru drill for insert holes

Post by beansnow »

Has anyone tried using something like this to make insert holes rather than a drill bit and then a forstner.

http://www.morriswoodtool.com/Counterbores.htm

We were gonna use a 7/8 OD 3/8 ID one. We figure that with a cratsman lasertrac drill press might make it go pretty quick.

I ordered it but havent gotten it yet, ill post when i knw if it works.

fyi this thing works great

We make a very small mark with a brad point through the holes in our template, then we use that bit to drill both the thru hole and hte countersink, takes like 10 min a core.

The inserts press fit into the core, i hope this doesnt cause any cracking during bending, we will see.
