Based on your screen name I am assuming that you are a snowboarder so I am afraid I can answer your question directly. However, I can share what I have done in looking for design ideas for my future skis. I have researched and compared the dimensions of several skis (or snowboards) that I either like the ride of, or wish to emulate the performance of and begin drafting profiles based on those dimensions and ideas. I hope my rambling helped.

From what I have seen, park boards were pretty much symetrical and directional boards had a 1-2mm narrower tail. The waist is also set back a cm or so on the directiional boards. The taper angle tends to help the board or ski initiate into the turn.
