Kiln heating vs. heat blanket

Hi all,

I've got a very heavy duty steel structure for air bag pressing. I'm going to start post-curing rather than natural curing soon. It would be very easy for me to close in my press with insulation and pump heat into it. Has anybody heated their mold using a kiln-style like this instead of the traditional heat blanket method? Pros and cons? I can't imagine there would be much of a down side. I would plan to use an internal thermostat and heat control of some kind.

Probably the biggest issue I would see is that you won’t know when your epoxy actually reaches the desired cure temperature. Your air temp will initially be much hotter than the temp inside your lay up. Figuring out how long your it takes for your epoxy to reach the right temp and how long it needs to stay at temp might be tricky.

You’ll still need some type of internal temp measurement to figure this out.
