Cool tool. I guess out of the price range for most of us, but still cool.

Thats pretty cool. They replaced their stone with an Epilog!

How you think its an Epilog?

For bases you need a CO2 source, thats true.

they make a co2. My buddy down the street has one. I was just guessing on the brand. Kinda like calling all adhesive bandages "band-aid" :)

so the two different lasers out there, that im aware of are "yag or fiber" and "co2"
The "yag or fiber" use led light. they cannot cut plastic.
The "co2" can cut metal, plastics and wood.
We have a 1.5kw co2 in our metal fabrication shop. we can cut up to 1/2" thick steel, wood, and plastics/ phenolic.

There also different wavelengths with every laser type, even with the same color.

And there is diode too. Its mainly seen as a toy but in fact fibres are driven by diode arrays too.

Problem with plastics are the different types. If you cut ABS with a laser you create chlorine gas....

Looks cool, but..... how can you laser profile the surface of a base while maintaining the low surface energy properties of (UHMW) PE? I rather expect it to be a great pre-treatment of a base for bonding, not to make a fast base :?

I guess just to play with different structrual patterns. With lasers your only limited to your imagination.
You could even etch a picture of your kids on there... if it made you go faster! LOl!
