Silicone sheets in north america

Post by Wheatlpa »

Hi All,

I am trying to find a source for silicone sheets here in north america. I have searched the forum with no luck. I have emailed a source in Germany but they will not ship a small amount that i need and getting triple the size just so they will ship also greatly increases the shipping costs. I have also contacted a supplier in China as listed on the wiki but they never returned my emails.

So, if anyone has a suggestion or connection can you let me know. I could go the plastic route, but i just feel bad about throwing away large amounts of plastic after the vacuum process is done.

Thanks!

Hows bout these?

The chinese are the hungriest.
U should hear from someone in 12 hours minimum if not try another. There all prolly part of the same conglomerate owed by the government. Try to post a supplier request with specifics? Size thickness durometer elongation tear...yadda yadda.

I would try to get a sheet that has a elongation in the 700 range - anything less is extra work. I couldn’t find anything reasonably priced in the states so a Chinese one was about $200 including shipping. I used rubber cal sheets for a few years but they didn’t last and weren’t flexible enough. Same with the sheets from joe woodworker. The 700 sheets from rubber cal were expensive. I’ll look up the info if you need it. It took a couple of weeks to get it.

I just placed an order for the DH2211 last week. they were friendly and responsive. $150 for 900mm x 2600mm x 1 mm shipped to NY, USA. I browsed the US sites but wasn't crazy about their selection - elongation in particular wasn't as good.

They mentioned that it will take longer than usual to ship due to covid - I'll follow up and let you know how it is when it arrives!

Thanks for the link! I've been looking for a place to buy this material for a long time as well.

I just wanted to update this post on what i went with. I contacted the people at SSCrubber and they were very helpful and answered quickly. I ended up getting their item ARP-T-50-062-36 which is a 50 durometer sheet .062" thick and 36" wide. A length of 3 yards cost me 98$ and 35$ shipping to Vermont.

I am not sure if this is similar to the high tear strength from deerhunter but i gave it a trial run over the weekend and it seems to work so this will do for now. If it fails i will chalk it up to a learning experience and see about getting something from deerhunter.

Thanks for all of the information on this.
