Damm, i am in Austria to do some skiing and snowboarding, and of course test my new skis and boards.. But there is absolutely no snow. I have been here every Christmas since 1988 and have always been able to ski. Forecast is warm sunny weather for at least the next 10 days. How are you guys doing in the rest of the world?

Getting your brandnew skis stolen while dancing on the table.
I am considering visiting Alpincenter Bottrop. I am feeling like a junkie on a cold turkey.

Been out wandering in the mountains every day. Got my skis base ground today. A fantastic job. They look perfect, and it only cost €20.00!
Also just got back from the new Star Wars movie. WOW!

Hintertux is always good choice in Austria. Not far a way from Munich.

I live in New England and so far the winter has been very poor. Some ski areas in northern Vermont (Jay Peak) have snow and parts of northern Maine. Everyone else in the North East is scraping by. At Christmas time it was in the 60'sF here. It's turning cold this week so everyone is making snow this week. Our little ski area will open for its first day of operation on saturday 1/9. We'll be lucky to have 3-4 runs open.

Jeez, that sounds even worse than where I was.. Hopefully it is starting to get cooler in Austria too.

I got bindings on my skis at last.
I got the ski shop to mark where the holes should go. Didn't cost anything as I bought the bindings from them. Then I used inserts so I can easily remove the bindings.
I got the Marker Griffon Schizo bindings so I can experiment with the position on the skis.

Am off to the alps this weekend.

Damn! I have sore muscles.
Had an awesome weekend skiing powder snow nearly all day Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 till 04:00pm.

Skis well exceeded my expectations in pow. The extra width and rocker just makes them so much easier to ski than my Nordica Doberman GS skis.

On piste they carve very well, but you can notice the extra width under foot. There is a noticible extra sidewards pressure on the knee to get them up on edge and keep them there, particularly on ice or very hard packed man made snow.

My son absolutely thrashed his new snowboard with cliff jumps, helicopter attempts and buttering. He loved the new board, and it held up fantastically.

The 2k high gloss finnish is much better than just oiling the veneer. Definitely handled the weather better.

The top edges of my veneer Cap construction definitely have a few dings and scratches.

I'll get some photos or film up asap.
