Electroplated Synthetic Diamond Grinder

Post by BOARDWORKS »

Hello everyone,

Coming to market this fall is our new DIAMOND CUT SKI GRINDER by Boardworks Gear Lab Inc.

This is a first of a kind in the ski industry as we use an electroplated synthetic diamond grinding cylinder to process the base of skis. This patent pending technology will outlast any “stone” on the market because….well, it’s made from diamonds! And, ithat also means that it will never need to be trued.

The machine is small - about the size of a carry-on luggage bag, uses a regular 110v plugin - not 240v like most grinders, it’s portable - weighing in at under 90 lbs, and most components can be sourced locally - no waiting on parts. It was specifically designed for the smaller ski shops or the home based tech shop - what we call “Micro Shops”. Best of all, it’s affordable! Our BETA release will cost under $3000 CAD. That’s about $2200 USD depending on exchange rate.

Just to be clear on expectations, the finishing on the base is similar to what a belt grinder would do. There is no patterned structure. It will not provide base bevel, and it is not designed to do edges. What it does do is save you time, money, and effort getting ski bases back to an exceptional starting point. It does an terrific job truing ski bases, removing ptex, and eliminating that pesky base-burn. A few passes over the base edges with graduating diamond files and you’re ready for wax.

What is included:
1-DIAMOND CUT SKI GRINDER,
1-File card cleaning brush,
10-Brake Retainers,
10 L (2.5 gal) Emulsion.

As part of BETA pricing, we ask that you provide feedback over the course of the season. What do you like? What improvements can be made? How many hours have you put on the machine? How often are you needing to clean the tank? Greasing schedule, etc. You get the drift.

We are manufacturing only 20 of the BETA machines and are expecting them to go quickly. November 1st 2023 will be the release date, so if you’re interested, mark your calendar.

By mid October our website should have the updates completed. That’s where all the info and videos will be posted. Visit www.boardworksgearlab.com or reach out to hello@boardworksgearlab.com. We’d love to hear from you!

In the meantime, here’s a link to a preview:

Cheers
