Curious if anyone has any simple plans for an edge bender?

Yes please look around the forum. Everybody and their brother has built their own edge bender around here, with an entire spectrum of complexity. You can try to design/build something clever - or you can buy some $15 tile nippers at harbor freight and grind the end down and use that. (this is the preferred method of many of us on here)

Thank you.....

Sorry for any inconvenience, certainly not trying to waste anybodies valuable time. I should have included a little more context in my post but was just trying to keep it short and a sweet.

I did a search and found the devices/tools on older posts prior to reaching out. I am interested in any newer designs that may have popped out over the last year. All I could find from the search was circa 2011 or earlier.

Have fun out there!
Cheers.

Cause those old designs (the various takes on the three roller designs, and the modified tile nippers) work great. Why re-invent the wheel?

$6.99

also built a "real" edge bender and also some modified nipple pliers. Only using the pliers (or nippers or however they are called)... Its simple because its fast: Bend a bit, check, bend again, check, bend again...
With the nippers the time in between bending and checking is much shorter as it is with a "real" bender.

I'm a big fan of "images" first. I think the first three lines of images has every edge bender ever made. (except the cnc edge bender, because that thing is just bad ass and you have to use other search key words for it, such as: "super badass edge bender that uses a computer to bend your edges so you can focus on other things like searching ski building sites")

or this one: viewtopic.php?t=4511&start=15&sid=e2533 ... 3c79bbbb35

but in all seriousness I bet i find 80% of my answers with "images"

Twizz: if it aint broke don't fix it. ;-)

Call me a meat head, but I've found it easiest to slap on some leather gloves and bend by hand. Bend, check, bend some more, bleed a little, and bend some more. I found our modified tool to kink the edge so I gave up on it.

I was never able to keep the edge flat when I bent by hand. The tile nippers take care of that for me. I spent over $100 building my three-roller edge bender years ago, and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, but it still took me ~15-30 minutes per edge to get it perfect. With my nippers, I can do it in about 5 minutes, and it's a much better job.

think you could post a pic of your nipper jaws?

Do you full edge wrap or 3/4?

These are not my photos, these are Mike's, but mine looks basically identical (the middle "tooth" on mine is a little wider)

I do 3/4 wrap, but I've done full wrap a few times. 3/4 is way easier to get perfect.
