absolutely magic!
I'm guessing that thing is heating up the sidewall so it "melts" onto the wood core. (or some type of glue applicator) Interesting bonding technique.

Just google "edgebander"
These machines have been around for decades.
Probably just using hot melt glue.
I used one years ago when I worked in a cabinet shop.
It was just like this...
