I am always impressed by the finish on the wood veneer finishes I see on here.
What is the secret to getting that glossy smooth finish.
The latest ski I used parchment paper and tried really keep my epoxy layer on top smooth and evenly spread. I still got some rough spots. So I sanded and put another thin layer of epoxy on top.

Is there a good method or sequence of steps to make it that glossy smooth finish?

helmans spar urathane. its a miniwax brandname product. rona, home hardware etc.

sand epoxy, apply spar with foam brush, let dry, light sand, repeat 2twice, last coat with urethane in a rattle can.

I've done some tests with clear topsheet over the top of the veneer, and it looked killer. Might want to layup a small piece and give it a try.

Entropy resin CLR over the veneer looks great and feels hard. I'm hoping it protects the veneers better than spar.

If there is some craters in the epoxy that is on top of the veneer, is it fine to sand back the epoxy back to the veneer. Then put another later on?

The bamboo veneer I've used had some kind of backing material.

I put clear nylon (sublimated by Miller Studios) over the bamboo veneer and it gave a perfectly glassy smooth crystal clear top, looks amazing.

Paperback is fine. Might add a sniff of weight. But there waaaaaay easier to cut if you want to do inlays. As far as sanding goes and epoxy craters. I've sanded it right back to veneer before I had so many. It's all good. Orbital sand works a charm.

I'm interested in why you guys don't remove epoxy. Epoxy is brittle and will yellow over time. Belt sanders over 'random' orbital sanders? Has anyone tested the urethane used to protect bowling lanes - might be a good starting point?

this nylon, how wide is it? Would it be possible to get it in 40-45cm width?

I don't know if Isosport produces Nylon topsheets this wide. Miller only has it in 345mm width.
