How to cool after heating

Post by BigG »

Hi,

I've been reading quite some time in a lot of the threads on this forum but I wasn't able to find a good explanation of the best way to cool down a heated ski.

Is it in the press (naturally or forced), out of the press, ....

Maybe we can collect your opinions on this matter in this topic.

When we first started with the heated press, we would rip the skis out smoking hot. I think this caused some of the camber problems that we encountered. Now, we let the skis cool naturally in the press.

Even though my intuition says not to do it, I still rip them out smokin' hot. I just lean them against the wall, bottom facing outward, until they are cool enough to start dinking around with. Hard to believe, but mine don't seem to loose or gain camber, even after much use.
