The color on that sidewall is really great! Can I ask what kind of urethane you're using, and where you got it? I'm thinking I'm ready to give urethane sidewalls a shot.

And yes, I still get my bamboo from Bamboo Hardwoods in Seattle (the showroom has a different name now). I used to be able to buy remnants for cheap, but now its retail boxes only

Smooth on PCM-790. Great but expensive. I dyed this stuff with like 2 drops of blue tint. I've sourced some different product in Canada now for almost half as much. Though we will need to buy a larger quantity.

Dang, in Canada I pay $240 plus 12% tax for that same kit.

Which kit ? not the trial one I hope !
If you get the 5 gallon kit for 240+tx though I'm pretty sure you're gonna become famous here :p

I wish Ben. I get the smaller 3 Pail kit. A Total of 2.6 gallons

But Ben if you are looking there is a full on polyurethane factory in salmon arm B.C.. I spoke with a guy named Chad and he has given me some very good pricing on 7.5 gallons of a very similar product. You being so close to the boarder though, have a lot more options.

We drank some beer tonight and pressed this splitboard. Best press to date . Nothing went wrong, and no steps were missed. I am excited to say the least. this is the first time i have not pulled it out hot. We shut off the blankets and went out for fish and chips. let the pressure off and cracked it upon return. flat bases, no swelling edge tangs, seemed better all round.

Next time Ill get these holes cnc'ed, split inserts by hand take forever!

I feel your pain with the splitboard insert holes... there's a lot of them and you usually end up having them not aligned perfectly...

I noticed the tile nipper, did you bought it like that (with "teeth") or did you modified it ?

We bought a large Mastercraft tile nipper with intensions to modify them.
Found out that the 2 handles did not come apart. Brought them to my machinist friend who ground it for me. Not perfect as it does slip once in a while, but works. If your on the hunt for nippers, look for ones that have a easily accessible nut and bolt holding the 2 pieces together so you can take em apart, or grinding out the middle tooth is almost impossible.

I got it cut out . drill inserts out and base grind tommorow







bamboo core 2.1mm/7mm/2.3mm
stiched 9 ounce uni carbon. one inch strip above and below each "ski".
4 12k carbon tows above and below core from inset pack to contact pionts.
19.9 ounce quadaxial basalt top/bottom

The mold for the new ski we are making. Its the 3rd generation of the ski and it maybe close to perfect the boys say.

My new split all finished up. Rode it on Monday, it was sick. There was so much pow on the hill I did not bother touring around though. Maybe Friday?



These will be expensive cores, but I never got in to building to save money!

what did you paint the bases with?

id love to just try some type of rattle cans and stencils... and just use white pigmented epoxy when building.

Nazdar ink and stencil. Then a back coat with a roller. Rattle it up. I'm sure it will work.

i just wonder what kind of paints will work. so did you make screens or just cardboard stencil? nazdar is screen inks right?
