Ya screen inks. We just do sticker stencils with a vinyl cutter. Use a roller or a scraper to spread the ink

water based acrylic works well!

six boards built with full flood coats of it on the base (most of them built last season). the oldest one has about 100 days of mostly park riding under its belt and it's still going strong.

did you airbrush it or just hand brush it?
I can get a nifty airbrush kit with pump for like 350 bucks, been using one at work to paint models.

so far i've only made simple graphics with a brush painting freehand or using a stencil.

i used to do the floodcoats with a hvlp spray gun, but now i'm using paint rollers since it's quicker and the equipment is easier to clean.

intricate graphics with multiple colors are hard to do since the paint needs a couple of coats in order to become opaque.

Well Resawing my 12 inch stack of expensive lumber went horrible. Blade drifted thought we tried everything to stop it. Wrecked one core worth if wood. The rest is still good. I should have Resawed two six inch stacks on the table saw instead and glued together later. Will do this next time.

Anyway, visited my buddies mill and scored a butt load of nice clear tight grain Sitka spruce and a few cedar boards.

And here is a couple shots of our last set finished

And we poured some more Polly-u channels for 2 more new shapes. Ones a touring pow ski, the other a super fatty.

Skis look great! Still have not tried pouring Poly sidewalls yet. It's on a long to-do list.

Are you flaming it to cure it faster or to get bubbles out?

Do you flame after profiling before layup?

the picture shows them using a torch to get the bubbles out afaik. you don't really need to flame the sidewalls since the profiling leaves a nice rough finish that bonds well. and even if he would be flaming the already cured sidewalls it would be a stupid thing to do BEFORE profiling the cores ;)

Sweet. Where did you get your basalt fiber?

How does the basalt wet out in comparison to glass?

How do they ski?

They look sexy with the dynafits. I like it.

We got the basalt from basaltex. The minimum is 50m of 50 inch.
Cost us 549euros for the roll and 333euros for shipping from belgium.
Expensive but worth it.

I've used quadax in snowboards. Stuff ruled so we pulled the plug and ordered the triaxial.

skis rode amazing. They even carve decent on the groomer/lift return. Basalt is slightly stiffer. So there is some experimenting to do if you pick some up.

I designed a new 158 twin. Im really happy with the shape.
Designing snowboard shapes is fairly simple in comparison to skis I find.

3 bamboo cores with channels routed and colored poly poured. Two blue and a green.

Here is the new mold. Camber underfoot running to the tips,
And a reverse hump between the feet. Lots of snowboard company's
Doing this now. This is my spin on it!

Trying to teach my kid to thread the rod through the mold ribs. He's getting it!

The two with blue poly will be for me and a buddy. Going use my first subbed topsheets. The third a shop board for the local skate/snowboard shop.

Oh ya, and we pressed another set of skis

Forgot to ask..... I picked up some 8oz 0/90 biax carbon recently and was thinking of using it on my new board. Should I try for super light and go above and below core, or just below and use a 21 oz basalt triaxial on top. Or even a 19 oz quadax basalt on top? What to do. I've never used full width carbon before, just inch UNi and tows.
