Might be an option - you don't need to insert plastic: http://www.happymonkeysnowboards.com/Mo ... re_Cutting

what do you mean by plastics? i wasn't planing on putting any plastic in my skis. also Do you use the cnc much? do you think cutting out base material on it would be smart? or should i make a base template and use a hand held router?

Brazen puts a drag knife in his CNC to cut out bases. I'm building a CNC router now, and am planning on trying out a drag knife for bases. If it didn't work, I'd probably stick to CNC'ing a template and cutting with a router by hand - but I'm not speaking from experience, only my unjustified foresight.

Cutting on the CNC with a router works fine, too... just use a straight-flute cutter, not a spiral. I do it all the time.
