Can you use something like this as a controller for the heat blankets?

It's way easier and much cheaper to make than the standard issue one's I see most ski builders using, but I'm not sure if it will work for this purpose. I'm not very good with electricity and circuits so if the normal set ups everyone uses are the only way to go then let me know.

I paid like $30-$40 on ebay for a PID and SSR.

I thought it was more than just a PID and ssr, especially if your'e running two heat pads.
Don't you need a setup like this?:

is the controller in the happy monkey website not the way to do it then? I looked up the costs for all the materials and it was like $250 and I can't make it so I would have had to hire an electrician too.
how did you guys make yours?

I'm only using one blanket, but my setup is nothing more than a cheapie PID controller and SSR in a plastic radioshack box. It's nothing fancy, but form follows function. If I had two blankets, I would probably build another identical box and control the two blankets separately.

that's so much simpler than I've seen from others, and relieving.
if it works fine then I'll do the same.

I'm also using a 110v blanket, for whatever that is worth
