Are there downfalls to having two pieces of shorter ptex sidewall on one side of a ski. Or will that create a bad failing point? I have lots of small lengths of ptex sidewall. Just curious if I can get them fastened to each other to make a longer piece suitable for a longer ski.

Shouldn't really be a problem. Of course ptex is always difficult to bond to, and ptex-to-ptex will be even harder, but if its just a vertical spot to connect a few pieces, it shouldn't really matter.

If I was going to do that I would cut both the ends that are to be joined at 45 degrees and prelaminate them together. By doing the 45 degree cut you eliminate the potential for them to break apart when flexed.

no reason to pre laminate them.
