I think it is safe enough but what do you think about the valves and the end of the hoe? I tried it at 40PSI with no ptroblem..

MM - Right on. I re-did mine a few month ago just like HappyMonkeys. Doesn't require all that goop.

It was similar to HappyMonkeys but the parts weren't long enough to get them tighten down really good. I had leaks at 30psi. So I bought all new parts listed by HappyMonkey and it so much better. I can now press at 50psi. Still a very minor leak but I can live with it. And no goopy mess.

Run a few tests and if it continues to hold at 40psi you should be good to go. But if it starts to develop leaks after awhile, rebuild it to HappyMonkeys specs.

I cannot remember where I got this from probably here, but another way is to make your own if you have access to the tools of course I got some standard 3/4 bolts with a 2" long thread and nuts, I got the center driled out all the way through to the tap drill size for a 1/4 npt thread (7/16" if i remember right) and then taped(threaded) the holes myself in a vise by hand on the threaded end of the bolts , trick is to get washers that fit tight to the 3/4" diameter, the steel washers for 5/8 bolts usually work,I also have 3/4" hole punch and I make the gaskets as well out of whatever I can find, as long as everything fits tight it works well I have three hoses in my press with a spare it was pretty cheaply done compared to the purchse method and done quicker than shipping.

In order from the inside out there is the bolt head then a thick rubber washer then a steel tight fitting washer then the bladder wall then another steel washer and a jam nut and the hose fitting in the end the nut should slide over the hose fitting. I feel it's easier to plug the hole from the inside than the outside

Tighten it all up before you close off the end of your hose and thread in your hose barb/ airline adapter as well so you hold back at get it all nice and tight.

If you want you could choose a 1/8 NPT pipe diameter and go for smaller bolts it's just the materials and tools I had available.

Cheers
Jim

Safe enough - two words that don't really hang together.

If you intend to press at 40 psi, then running at test above this pressure is a good idea. 50 psi for an hour or two is fine - a 20% margin. A relief value will really help this set up.
