Mold & Camber

Post by Sur »

Hi... I´m new here but I´m already planning to build an "ski builder". I have a doubt about the camber of my mold. I would like to make skis with 8mm-10mm of camber, but I read that when you take out the ski from the mold, it looses camber. It would be fine a 20 mm camber for my mold?. In the "mold" link they talk about a 28mm camber for the mold, but, is not too much?? which would be the ski camber in that case??

Thanks you!!

According to what I read on the forum is that if you use a pneumatic press (not heated) you should appy twice the camber of the ski to the mold. So if you want 8 mm camber your mold should have 16 mm.

I am building a press frame using some wood at the moment.
I will assemble it tomorrow, so then I will also post some pics in my building log.
