I´ve been thinking for a while and I wonder if you can use single piece of wood as a core without any lamination. If you can finde a piece without any knots you can buy it with the desired width (about 1 cm) and you will only have to cut it with the right shape. It´s easier. Does it work well?

I was thinking of doing the same thing but never got around to it. It's definitely worth a shot but I can't say for sure whether it will work or not.

There's an video interview with the guy from Lightning Boards ( solid woood skis ) over on ttips. Haven't watched it so maybe there isn't any good info.

Ok, let me explain my theory and correct me if I´m wrong: lamination gives better behaviour to the ski to torsion forces besides making it stronger and heavier because of the density of the epoxy and most important eliminate most of irregularities, knots mainly.
I don´t know but maybe for the first pairs I´m gonna use a solid piece of wood and later try to improve the method.
