Advice on repainting a pair of commercial skis

Post by luki »

I like just a plain old fashioned one color ski without all the fancy graphics. Any tips on how I should repaint a pair of Karhu Jaks ? Would it be best to sand the graphics off and then repaint, or just paint it over with just a light sanding to give some tooth for the paint ? Should I brush a layer of epoxy on over the new paint for durability?

Ski paint

I would choose an automotive urethane and wash with acetone sand with 250 grit, spray, wetsand with 600 grit and machine buff. For the record PPG concept is the ultimate heavy use paint. The go to paint for sailbords.
It is expensive but sprays / hangs really well. Perfect for hacks like me.
