I am considering building a cloth pnuematic ski press but i am a bit hazy on a few terms. What is a cat track and what are the benifits of having one? What is the casscette? Do non heated presses hold camber? Would a non heated press hold a pretty big rocker of around 45 cm? What are the differnt components of a cloth press? Thanks for any info

oh and also how much would it roughly cost to make a cheap ass press? No heating and cloth and wood for the rest? I just want a rough estimate so I can get financial backing from the rents.

You're going to have to spend some more time reading old posts. Everything you need has been discussed at great (GREAT!) length before.

Cliff notes:

-The cattrack is a series of flat bars of metal or wood on top of the laminate to ensure the force applied to the laminate is normal to the mold.
- The cassette is a general term we use to mean the bottom and top pressing layers - usually sheet metal (aluminum or steel).
-Camber change is not just a function of heat - it's a function of uneven heating. If you are not heating and do your layup properly you should have no change in camber. Just make sure you are using an epoxy that is designed for a room temperature cure. If you are heating you need to heat evenly from the top and bottom or you will likely get changes in camber (it also depends on how you ramp the temperature up)

You can buy the fabric needed to make the cloth press from a member on here. Search "cordura" (I think that's the name of the stuff).

I can't help you on cost of the cloth press. Regardless, be prepared to spend a TON OF MONEY.
