Metal Above or Below the core?

Hi Guys

I have seen a lot of skis with duel layers of metal in their design, almost all have one above and one below.

However I am more interested in a design with a single layer.

I know some of you have tried building skis with metal in the design and had both success and failure.

What properties does each location give the ski?
Does this vary to different materials, and if so, what properties should we be looking for to aid different characteristics.

I hope someone can help!

From what I have read, what you do on one side of the core, you need to try to duplicate on the other side or the ski will hinge on you. The distance between laminates is what gives you the strength. You have compression on one side and tension on the other so you want to try to even things out.
