Has anyone ever messed around with magnatrac edge technology. This is a pair i built with this idea. Not sure how well I like them on packed out or groomed snow but ski great in deep or tracked up powder. Skied them in 10+ of powder that was tracked and they seemed to float and turn really well then few days later skied on groomers and wow better have control of your edging while turning because on packed they have a mind of their own.

I know there were snowboards that used "magnatraction" and I think some in the forum have built boards with that design. I was thinking of doing a ski like that some day but I never really thought it would work well on Eastern conditions (hard pack, groomers).

I tried out the Lib Tech Freerides a few weeks ago and they held well on some really firm stuff. I can't say that the magnetraction made a difference but they didn't feel weird at all. Pretty much just like a normal ski.

Praxis also has some interesting sidecut shapes going on as well as some innovative camber profiles that I had never seen before, except on snowboards.

My old base jig (which is similar to a 333 style one) creates bases with sort of segmented sections. The rail that my router bit follows doesn't form a super smooth arc. It's more like line-2-line segments. I've dubbed it "Mini-Mag". I've got 3 points of contact, not 7, like Lib. The waviness is more subtle than the OP's skis and Lib's, but its still fairly noticeable. I was very surprised at how well my 120mm underfoot skis rail the hardpack (at least when they are tuned). I honestly think it could be helping. It doesn't hurt the performance of the ski that's for sure. I didn't incorporate it into my newer designs because I wanted to see how my skis without Mini-Mag would perform. They're fine, but I might go back to it. People that are clued in to snow-riding technology get very excited about it.

when fondleing the lib skis you realize the magantraction is very subtle. From the OP's pics it looks more dramatic. the magantraction on the lib snowboards is more noticeable and shorter arcs I think.
