Never Summer Carbonium Topsheet material?

Post by Mikkelsen »

Does anyone have any info on what the "Carbonium Topsheet" material is that Never Summer uses on their top-end snowboards? It looks like really good topsheet material...

I realize this is the worst kind of Internet misinformation bullshit, but the only thing I can add is that I have heard from 2 unrelated sources that carbonium doesn't have a scrap of Carbon fibre in it. Looks sweet though.

If this is incorrect it would be good to know.

Could it be texalium? Texalium is an aluminum coated fiberglass (I think... its been a while), that can be made black to look just like carbon fiber. I have some scrap material I've played around with (not on skis). It was too stiff for what I was doing so I just stuck with CF.

That's my guess.

My bet is something like this.

http://www.fibreglast.com/product/Black ... ass_Fabric

Even neversummer says it's "a high tech carbon fiber like visual"

Looks like carbon, smells like carbon, but it ain't carbon.

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...

Best of luck to you. (uneva)

What interests me most is its reported durability qualities...I've heard good reviews about it being both very durable as well as shedding snow nicely.

Hell, just infuse <10 micron teflon into the topsheet. Totally hydro-phobic.
