Im wondering how people with vacuum pump presses keep thier vacuums going the entire 10 hours or how ever long you press for? Do you pull all the air out then like plug it or have a shut off valve? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Read this first

or more specific

My set up is built on that concept. My pump runs 15 s. / 45 min!
Warning: It can became an addiction to chasing leaks! Instead of building skis!

I'am building kiteboards with a vacum setup. I let the pump run for 24 hours because mostly there is a little leak anywhere.

I don't vacuum bag my skis, but I do bag other stuff and I've let my pump run for multiple days. They are designed/built for continuous operation
But for skis I use QCM epoxy that takes about 30 minutes to cure at 180 deg F, so even if I was vacuum bagging it wouldn't be in the bag long.

That's cheating!

...kidding I need some of that soup soon. Since my layup process have been refined I need to cut the curing time.

How do you let it run so long without it running out of oil? Are you constantly watching it??
