Question:What kind of materials would be helpful in strengthening the edges hold so i dont rip them out sliding rails and being a park rat?

After researching VDS rubber i've come to understand it really doesnt damper anything but helps ensure the edge remains locked to the base material and the ski etc...correct? I've also heard of people like 333skis using kevlar and other materials to help hold the edges in. Has anyone compared the two materials? or know of a composite material that is stronger and is an effective aid in bonding the edges with the skis?

I've used some carbon tow to "anchor" the ends of the edges on a few pair. I would tie off about 8" on the last t-section of edge. The edges on on my skis end about 3 inches from the tip. I don't pre-bend them at all. The carbon tow was/is a pain to work with. It was more of a hassle gluing on the edges and is was a pain during layup. I'm kind of over it. I've only had one pair, pair 2, out of 13 have the edges come out. I've used the tow on about 5-7 pair, not the last 3 pairs though. I've seen multiple core shots along the edges on a few pair in particular, and the edges and sidewalls have been holding up really well. I'm not sure if you've built a few pair and are having issues, but I wouldn't stress it to much. Just use a layer of VDS and a nice solid vertical sidewall. My first choice is bamboo. Second ash. They're actually the only one's I've used.
